About UWSP Network and Wi-Fi

UWSP Wired

UWSP operates a high-speed wired data network capable of delivering speeds to UWSP wired devices of up to 1 GB/s depending upon location.

Data ports are available in nearly every classroom, computer lab, office, shop and in almost every building on campus. To activate or add a jack, please enter an IT work order to Request a Network Jack Change.
 

UWSP Secure Wireless

UWSPWIRELESS and eduroam provide secure wi-fi in all academic and administrative buildings, residence halls, and in CWES and Treehaven lodges and lounge areas. 
 

Wi-fi for UWSP students, faculty, and staff

• Connect to eduroam or UWSPWIRELESS for a secure wifi connection.  You must use eduroam or UWSPWIRELESS to access UWSP services such as email.uwsp.edu and myPoint.uwsp.edu.  Learn more about eduroam.
   
• Residence Hall students connecting gaming and streaming devices see Internet Access For Residential Living Students.

Wi-fi for visitors from another eduroam member institution

• Select eduroam for wifi, and sign in just as you do to your home institution's wireless network.

Guest Wireless

The UWSP_Unsecure_Guest wi-fi is available to UWSP visitors who do not have an eduroam member account.  UWSP_Unsecure_Guest is an open, unsecure network in UWSP academic and administrative buildings with some limited access to UWSP resources.  During summers, UWSP_Unsecure_Guest is also available in UWSP residence halls.

Outdoor Wireless

Outdoor Wi-Fi is available in the areas shown in blue on the Outdoor Wi-Fi map​.  Your Wi-Fi connection may be limited in unmarked areas.  Be aware that when moving between outdoor Wi-Fi and indoor Wi-Fi your device may take a few minutes to reconnect.  Switching your device’s Wi-Fi off and then back on should speed up this reconnection.

Visiting another campus?

If you are a UWSP student, faculty, or staff member who is visiting another campus, you can sign into eduroam with your UWSP account wherever eduroam is available.
