UWSP students, faculty, and staff should connect their devices to the secure wireless network UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam when using Wi-Fi on UWSP campuses. Learn more about eduroam.
UWSPWIRELESS and eduroam are available in all academic and administrative buildings, residence halls, and CWES and Treehaven lodges and lounge areas.
Please see the following wireless setup instructions for your particular device. If you have problems connecting to UWSP's secured wireless network with your UWSP account, contact the Service Desk.
NOTE: UWSPWIRELESS is already configured automatically on UWSP owned Windows and Mac OS laptops and shared iPads. For single-user UWSP iPads, see the iPad instructions below.
Set Up and Connect To UWSP Wi-Fi
Windows 11
UWSP-owned Windows 11 laptops are already configured for UWSPWIRELESS.
Win 11 Wi-Fi Set Up
- In Windows 11 Search, type wifi.
- Select Wi-Fi Settings.
- Select Manage known networks.
- Click Add network.
In the Add a new network box, add the following:
- Network name: UWSPWIRELESS. Guests from other institutions in the eduroam consortium type eduroam.
- Security type: WPA3-Enterprise. If you do not see WPA3-Enterprise select WPA2-Enterprise.
- EAP method: Protected RAP (PEAP).
- Authentication Method: Secured password (EAP-MSCHAP v2)
- Your private identifier: your full UWSP username (e.g. spointer@uwsp.edu).
- Scroll down and place a check next to Connect automatically.
- Click Save.
Repeat these steps to add the eduroam wireless network.
Connect to UWSP Wi-Fi
- In the Windows 11 Search, type wifi.
- Select Wi-Fi Settings.
- Select Show available networks.
- Select the wireless network you added (UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam).
- Click Connect.
- Sign in with your UWSP account.

Windows 10
Win 10 Wi-Fi Set Up
- On the Task bar click the Search magnifying glass.
- Search for Control Panel.
- Select Network and Internet.
- Select Network and Sharing Center.
- Select Set up a new connection or network.
- Select Manually connect a wireless network.
- Click Next.
- Enter the following:
- Network name: UWSPWIRELESS
- Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
- Encryption type: AES
- Click Next.
- Click Change connection settings.
- Select the Security tab.
- Under Choose a network authentication method select Microsoft: Protected (PEAP).
- Click Advanced Settings.
- Uncheck Verify the server's identity by validating the certificate.
- Click Configure.
- Uncheck Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any).
- Click OK.
- Click Advanced Settings.
- On the 802.1x Settings tab check Specify authentication mode
- In the following box, click the dropdown and select User Authentication.
- Click OK and close the Settings window.
Connect to UWSP Wi-Fi
- On the Task bar at the bottom right, click the Wireless (Globe) icon.
- In the box that opens, click Available.
- Select UWSPWIRELESS.
- Click Connect.
- You will be prompted to sign in. Enter your full UWSP username (e.g. spointer@uwsp.edu) and password.

Mac OS Devices
UWSP-owned Macbooks are already configured for UWSPWIRELESS.
- Click the Wi-Fi icon on your Mac's menu.
- Select UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam. Guests from other institutions in the eduroam consortium select eduroam.
- Click Connect.
- Add your full UWSP username and password. eduroam guests enter your home institution credentials.
- Click Show Certificate. All fields should be set to Always Trust.
- Click Continue.
Your Wi-Fi icon will go from light to dark when you are connected to wi-fi.

iOS
UWSP-owned shared iOS devices are already configured for UWSPWIRELESS.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam. Guests from other institutions in the eduroam consortium select eduroam.
- Enter your full UWSP username and password. eduroam guests enter your home institution credentials.
- Tap Join.
- Tap Trust.
In your Wi-Fi Settings, you are successfully connected if you see a check to the left of the UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam network.

Android
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam. Guests from other institutions in the eduroam consortium select eduroam.
Update the following settings:
- Identity: Your full UWSP username and password. eduroam guests enter your home institution credentials.
- CA Certificate: Use System Certificates
- Online Certificate Status: Do Not Verify
- Domain: uwsp.edu
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Connect to connect to UWSP wi-fi.

Google Pixel
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Connections.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Tap UWSPWIRELESS or eduroam. Guests from other institutions in the eduroam consortium select eduroam.
- Update the following settings:
- EAP Method: PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
- CA certificate: Do Not Validate
- Identity: your full UWSP username (e.g. spointer@uwsp.edu).
- Anonymous Identity: Your full UWSP username (e.g. spointer@uwsp.edu).
- Password: Your UWSP Password
- At the bottom of the screen, tap Connect.
- On the Is this network trusted screen tap, Yes, connect.
