How Do I Use a Hardware Token?

MFA Hardware tokens are intended as a backup secondary authentication method. Hardware tokens fit on a keychain where they are easy to access if your mobile device is unavailable.

Use a Hardware Token Verification Code For MFA

Note: to use your hardware token for MFA authentication when signing in from off-campus into Remote Desktop, the Remote/Online Access Labs, or VPN you must additionally use the intermediary Big-IP client.

To complete your multi-factor authentication with your hardware token's verification code:

  1. Sign in to your UWSP resource with your UWSP username and password.
  2. On the secondary authentication screen select Use a different verification option.
  3. Select Use verification code from mobile app or hardware token.
  4. Type the code from your hardware token display into the Verification code box.
  5. Click Sign in.
