Body
A hardware token ("fob") is a small device that generates single use six-digit verification codes. If your mobile device is unavailable this verification code can be used as your secondary authentication method when signing in with your UWSP account. There is no need for you to add your hardware token to your myaccount.uwsp.edu portal as your alternate secondary authentication method. The device will be configured for your UWSP account upon receipt.
MFA Hardware tokens are intended as a backup secondary authentication method. Hardware tokens fit on a keychain where they are easy to access if your mobile device is unavailable.
How to Use a Hardware Token
To complete your UWSP account sign-in by entering a verification code as your secondary authentication method:
- In the Approve sign in request box, click I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now.
- Under Verify your identity select Use a verification code.
- Enter the code from your hardware token and click Verify.
