In order for a computer to connect to certain UWSP assets from off campus, you must configure a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.
Multifactor Authentication is required for all VPN connections.
If you need to authenticate using verification codes from your MFA hardware token you will need to install and use the intermediary app, Big-IP Edge Client, to complete the authentication. To always receive Push notifications and complete your MFA authentications from your mobile device, set your default MFA Authentication method to "App-based authentication - notification".

How to Set Up a VPN Connection
- Ensure that you are currently connected to the Internet.
- Open Settings > Network.
- Click the to create a new connection.

- Choose the following options in the Select the interface pop-up:
- Interface: VPN
- VPN Type: L2TP over IPSec
- Service Name: UWSP VPN
- Click Create.
- Select UWSP VPN Connection.
- Enter the following:
- Server Address: vpn.uwsp.edu
- Account Name: your UWSP email
- Click Authentication Settings...
- Enter the following:
- Password: your UWSP password
- Shared Secret: Stevie Pointer Barks Loud
- Click OK.
- Click Connect.
- Click Apply. Connect UWSP VPN will display on the top menu bar
NOTE: While you are connected via VPN, you will not be able to browse any web sites outside of the university. The VPN server that is directing traffic will not allow any network traffic to browse the internet. You should, however, be able to browse uwsp.edu websites.
