Set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device for the most convenient secondary authentication method option. UWSP employees may also request an IT-assigned hardware token as an additional secure secondary authentication method.
Set Up the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- On a computer, open a browser and go to your Microsoft Account page. Enter your UWSP email address and click Next.
- Sign in with your UWSP email and password.
- In the Security info box click UPDATE INFO >.
You will be asked to sign in with your current secondary authentication method, for example, the MFA app.
- Click Add sign-in method.
- Select Authenticator App.
- Install the mobile app on your device then select Next back on your device screen.
- Click Next until you arrive at the QR code page.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. If prompted, tap Accept to the Privacy information screen. Click Continue on the Help us Improve Authenticator screen.
- On your mobile device screen, tap the Scan a QR code button in the lower right.
- Scan the QR code in your computer browser with your mobile device. Click Next. Your computer browser will display a Let's try it out message with a number.
- On your mobile device enter this number into the Are you trying to sign in? prompt.
- Tap Yes.
- In your computer's browser, click Next.
You should now have MFA set up with Microsoft Authenticator!
