There are a few things that could cause issues with getting into one's accounts, ranging from an expired password, getting locked out due to caps lock, needing to readd the authenticator app to your smartphone, etc. If you don't have access to your UWSP account the easiest course of action is to call the IT Service Desk at 715-346-4357 as they will need to verify your ID before assisting with account issues.
Notes
Here are a couple things that you might want to try first:
- Try on more than one device, this verifies it's an issue with the account itself and not possibly that one device
- Check what network you are connected to
- When on campus use UWSPWIRELESS or eduROAM
- There are certain networks like Guest Wireless or UWSPDEVICE that are not secure enough so UWSP resources are blocked on those networks
- When on home networks, some router settings or personal VPNs could interfere with UWSP resources
- When at home a good troubleshooting step is to try with cellular data
- When an incorrect password is entered too many times in a row, the system will "lock" the account
- These lockouts last 30 minutes, people can choose to wait out the 30 minutes, contact the IT Service Desk to unlock the account or go to the Manage Your Account page to unlock your account yourself with security questions (answers to security questions are all lowercase)
- Open your Microsoft Authenticator app on your smart device and see if number matching pops up when attempting to log in
