Cisco Secure Client VPN - Troubleshooting

Body

Occasionally computer restarts and sign-outs, temporary interruptions to wifi or other network-related issues can prevent the Cisco Client from running successfully.  Check the following troubleshooting steps if you were previously connected to the Client but are now unable to access UWSP secure resources.

Troubleshooting the Cisco Secure Client VPN Connection

  1. Are you already on the UWSP network? If so, the Client is not needed and will not work.
  • Try restarting your computer to attempt to reconnect your network resources.

  1. Do you see the Cisco Secure Client in your Windows Taskbar's Hidden icons or Mac Menu?
  • If you see the Client, open it. The Client is running but may not be connected. Check the following:
  • Do you see a button to Connect?  The Client is running but has disconnected. Click Connect to reconnect your Client.
  • Do you see a button to Disconnect?  The Client is running and already connected. Try disconnecting then reconnecting. You can also try moving your computer or router (if at home) to improve your connection.
  • If you do not see the Client the Client is no longer running.
  • You must run and reconnect the Client.  See instructions to run and reconnect the Client for Windows or Mac.

  1. Did you replace your home computer?
  • You must reinstall the Cisco Secure Client then run and connect.
