How Do I Authenticate With a Phone Call?

To use phone call authentication you must first add a phone number for secondary authentication in your UWSP Microsoft account.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to increasing security concerns, Microsoft is discontinuing SMS and phone call authentication as multifactor authentication options.  As of March 2027, these options will no longer work or be available to select.  When setting up your new UWSP account, you are encouraged to use the Microsoft Authenticator app as your default multifactor authentication option.  If you already have SMS or phone call authentication enabled, you are strongly encouraged to switch to the Microsoft Authenticator app at your earliest convenience.

How to Authenticate Using Phone Calls

If phone calls are set as your default authentication method:

• You will automatically receive a call when authenticating with MFA.
   

To use phone authentication if the Microsoft Authenticator app is set as your default:

1. Sign in with your UWSP account.
2. In the Approve Sign-in request prompt that opens click I can't use my Microsoft Authenticator app right now.
3. Choose Call.
