Information Technology provides an easy-to-use tool to test your Microsoft authentication methods.

 

How to Test Your MFA Authentication Methods

 

Before testing: If your default authentication method is Microsoft's Authenticator app make sure that notifications and alerts are enabled for the app on your device.

  1. Go to testmfa.uwsp.edu.
  2. Click Sign In and sign in with your UWSP account.
  3. Your default authentication method will immediately prompt you to authenticate.
  • If your default authentication method is the MFA app on your mobile device:
    1. On your mobile device screen, you will receive a notification that the MFA app has received an authentication request. 
    2. Tap to open this notification or open the MFA app on your mobile device. You may additionally be prompted to enter your device passcode.
    3. Tap Approve to approve your sign-in.
       
  • To test a backup authentication method such as your hardware token or phone number (students):
    1. Click Use a different verification option.
    2. select the back up method you would like to test. 
  1. Sign out after testing.
  2.  To test another verification method, click Sign In again.
  3. When you are done testing, Sign out and close the browser screen.
