How Do I Change My Default Multi-Factor Authentication Method?

Knowing how to change your default authentication method is important!

Information Technology strongly recommends that you set your default authentication method to use the Microsoft Authenticator (MFA) app to receive push notifications on your mobile device.

Using the MFA app offers a higher level of secure identity assurance than SMS or voice calls.

How to Change Your Default Authentication Method

  1. Sign in to your UWSP Microsoft account.
  2. In the Manage access and security section select Change how you sign in. You may be prompted for your current method of authentication.
  3. To the right of Default sign-in method will be your current authentication method. To the right of this, click Change.
  4. Choose the multi-factor authentication method you want as your default.
  5. Click Confirm.
