Installing Software Updates and Security Patches
When Are Software Patches and Updates Available to Install?
Information about scheduled security and software updates will always be made available through the daily Campus Announcements.
These announcements will include:
- What updates are being released to UWSP computers.
- When they will be made available for you to manually install - before they automatically install at a time that may not be as convenient.
- The deadline for when they will automatically install (if you did not install earlier).
Please watch for Campus Announcements alerting you to upcoming software patches and updates and manually install these updates to prevent an automatic forced install from occurring and delaying your work.
How to Manually Install Scheduled Software Patches and Updates
Information Technology strongly encourages you to manually install patches and updates before the automatic install deadline to prevent unexpected disruptions during work.
Install Windows Computer Updates
Available software updates and security patches for Windows computers can be installed from the Windows Software Center.
Or, if you see a notification message display in the bottom-right corner of your computer screen indicating that “Software changes are required”, you can also click this notification to walk through the install.
Install Mac Computer Updates
To install available software updates and security patches on a Mac, go to Self Service and select Available Software Updates.
