UWSP's Standard Campus Load

Information Technology provides a reliable and secure computing environment by installing a standard set of software products and a particular release of an operating system called the Standard Campus Load (SCL) configured specifically for all UWSP computers.

  • The Windows SCL includes the Windows 11 operating system and Office 365. 

  • The Macintosh SCL includes the OSX, Mozilla Firefox, Office 365, and VLC media player.


Information Technology uses the SCL to:

  • Create a consistent experience from computer to computer,
  • Assure network delivered applications perform consistently,
  • Disseminate security and software updates, and,
  • Help facilitate upgrades.

Approved software acquired for a computer classroom or a specific group can be additionally installed via an automated process upon request or made available for individual installs from the Microsoft Software Center or Self Service for Macs.

If already approved software is not available to you or to your class due to limited licensing, additional licenses may be purchased by working with Information Technology's Software Purchaser / License Coordinator.

Supported Video Conferencing Technologies


Microsoft Teams

Microsoft Teams is used by Departments and large and small groups for collaboration and file storage. Teams offers a flexible tool for scheduling video conferences through the Microsoft Calendar, or for video calls whenever needed for a quick chat. Open Show meeting notes to take notes directly into your video meeting window. Meeting notes are automatically shared with meeting attendees saving you time.

Zoom

Zoom video conferencing is available at UWSP for classes and meetings.

  • The Zoom desktop app is installed on all UWSP computers.

  • The Zoom Outlook Meeting plugin is available in both the Outlook desktop and web apps.

  • Access your Zoom web portal by logging into zoom.uwsp.edu with your UWSP login.


Software Suites

A software suite is a collection of computer programs that are packaged together. The programs bundled into a software suite often share common tools and functionality making it easier to work between programs.

Microsoft Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 desktop apps are installed on all UWSP supported computers and available for download on student and employee personal devices.

The Microsoft Office 365 web apps can also be accessed by logging into your Office 365 Cloud portal at office.uwsp.edu with your UWSP logon.

The following are available both as installed desktop apps and web apps.

Access: database management system. Outlook: email, calendar, and other personal information management. Project: project management software.
Excel: spreadsheet editor. Power Bi: data visualization tool. Teams/Teams Meetings: a collaboration and video conferencing platform.
OneDrive: cloud-based file storage. Power Apps: a development environment for building custom apps for business needs. Word:  word processing program used for creating, editing, and formatting documents.
OneNote: digital note-taking app. PowerPoint: presentation software.  

Microsoft also has a number of web-only apps available such as Forms, Sway, Planner, etc. To see all available apps, log into your Office 365 Cloud portal at office.uwsp.edu with your UWSP logon and select Apps at the left.

 

Adobe Creative Cloud Suite

The Adobe Creative Cloud Suite is a powerful and flexible collection of graphic, video, photography, and web development applications.

ESRI ArcGIS

ESRI ArcGIS mapping and spatial analytics software is used in a number of UWSP courses and research activities.

UWSP provides the current version of ArcGIS Pro to UWSP students and faculty. Licenses are available most other ArcGIS products excluding third party data packages.

​GIS data is available from the CNR's inventory of Geographic Information System (GIS) data.

 

AutoDesk

Autodesk is 3D Design, Engineering, and Construction software. The following applications are available in many specialty labs and locations.

  • Autodesk 3dsMax

  • Autodesk AutoCAD

  • Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture

  • Autodesk Inventor

  • Autodesk Revit

Autodesk AutoCAD Architecture is specially suited to architectural work and is available in all UWSP computer classrooms, homework labs, and other areas around campus.

 

Supported Cloud Applications

Cloud applications are internet-based and accessed via a web browser or a mobile application. They do not require a local installation.

  • AccesSPoint: UWSP's Student Information System.

  • ArcGIS Onlinea cloud-based version of the ESRI ArcGIS mapping and analysis desktop suite available in public and specialty labs.

  • CanvasUWSP's course management system.

  • DocuSign eSignature: available through the Wisconsin DOA (Department of Administration), DocuSign eSignature is a digital signature solution for securely signing documents online. DocuSign allows for more secure storage of signed documents and supports UWSP's Sustainability initiatives by lowering paper consumption.

  • EndNote Online: Online Citation Manager.

  • Handshakeonline career development and job recruitment platform for UWSP students.

  • LinkedIn Learning: basic and advanced online tutorials available in a wide range of topics free to UWSP students and employees.

  • MindMup: an online mindmapping tool.

  • Navigate: UWSP's cloud advising portal.

Additional Class Software Available at UWSP

Information Technology makes licensed software available to install through the Windows Software Center or Self Service for Macs. Depending on software licensing, some software packages may only be available to certain classrooms and labs.
