Student Computer Repair Services

The IT Service Desk offers limited computer repair services to UWSP students on a first-come-first-served basis. Please see the following section for more information.  

Personal computer repair services are not available to faculty and staff. For assistance with the installation, setup, and configuration of UWSP software, hardware, and related IT-services, please contact the Service Desk.

Personal Computer Repair Services For UWSP Students

The Service Desk offers limited student computer repair services including:

  • Virus and malware removal
  • System rebuilds
  • Data recovery
  • Data migration
  • Software installations
  • System Upgrades
  • Some hardware issues (out-of-warranty computers)

Please contact the Service Desk to schedule an appointment if you need assistance with your device.

Students who bring their computers to the Service Desk for repair will receive up to 15 minutes of technician assistance where we attempt to troubleshoot issues. Devices requiring more than 15 minutes of troubleshooting/service must be checked in for technician assistance to continue.

Technicians have the authority to request a device first be checked in to the Service Desk if it is determined that troubleshooting/service may exceed the 15 minute service threshold.

The IT Service Desk limits the number of checked-in devices to 10 at a time to ensure timely turnover of student computer repair. If this limit is reached, we may ask you to bring your device in at a later time. We encourage students to call or stop in during our business hours to ask if we are able to accept new repair requests. Wait times for technician assistance tend to be longer at the beginning and end of each semester due to increased Service Desk traffic. 

The Service Desk reserves the right to deny repair services to any device, at any time, for any reason.

Service Fees


Students Living In Residence Halls

  • Repair service fees are included in student housing fees for students residing in UW-Stevens Point residence halls.

Students Living Off-Campus

  • Students residing off-campus will be assessed a repair service fee of $60.00 for each support instance.

Late Pick Up Fee

A $25.00 storage fee will be applied if a device is not picked up within two weeks after you receive the first email notice informing you that service is complete and your device is ready for pickup. Watch your UWSP student email for this notification from the IT Service Desk. Fees are applied directly to student billing accounts.
