Set up the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device and request a hardware token as soon as possible to ensure that you have a secondary authentication method available! See the Related Articles section for more information about requesting a hardware token and multi-factor authentication.
UWSP employees must use the Microsoft MFA app or their IT-assigned hardware token as a secondary authentication method.
Set Up the Microsoft Authenticator App
- Download the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- In a computer browser, go to your Microsoft Account page. Enter your UWSP email and click Next.
- Sign in with your UWSP email and password.
- Click UPDATE INFO on the Security info box.
- Click Add sign-in method > Authenticator App > Add.
- Click Next until you arrive at the QR code page.
- Open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your mobile device. If prompted, tap Accept to the Privacy information screen. Click Continue on the Help us Improve Authenticator screen.
- Tap the Scan a QR code button in the lower right.
- Scan the QR code in your computer browser with your mobile device. Click Next.
- You will see a Let's try it out message in the browser displaying a number. Your mobile device will then receive a prompt from Authenticator asking Are you trying to sign in? Enter the number you see in your computer browser into the pop-up window on your mobile device and click Yes. Click Next in the computer browser.
You should now have MFA set up with Microsoft Authenticator!
