"Bring Your Own Laptop" (BYOL) Classroom Instructions

Important - Mac Users: If your laptop is a Mac and you intend to use the classroom document camera, you must install the Quick Camera application from Self Service. Self Service can be found in your Applications.

Windows BYOL Classroom Instructions

 

  1. At the teaching station desk press ON button on the AV System Controller (MLC) to turn on the projector.  

On your Windows laptop:

  1. Plug in the USB-C cable located at the teacher station. 
  2. Set up Displays
    • Press the Windows Key + P to open the projecting options and arrange displays to match your physical setup.
       
  3. Select Audio
    1. At the bottom right of the screen on the Taskbar, click the Volume icon.
      The Sound icon is at the bottom-right of your Windows screen to the left of the date and time.
    2. , and then click the Select the output device icon.  
      The "Select the output device" icon is at the right of the Sound volume slider.
    3. Choose Headphones (HP USB-C Dock Audio Headset).
      From the "Output device" list that displays, select "Headphones (HP USB-C Dock Audio Headset)".
    4. Use the volume control on your device to adjust audio levels. 
       
  4. Use the document camera: 
    1. In the search bar at the lower left of your computer, search Camera and open the Camera application. 
    2. Use the Change Camera button in the top right to switch between your device’s camera and the document camera.
      In the Camera application, the "Change Camera" button is at the top right.

 

Mac BYOL Classroom Instructions

 

  1. At the teaching station desk press ON button on the AV System Controller (MLC) to turn on the projector.  

On your Mac laptop:

  1. Plug in the USB-C cable located at the teacher station. 
  2. If a popup opens asking to connect to a dock, click Allow
    Click "Allow" in the lower-right corner of the pop-up.
  3. Setup Displays
    1. Arrange displays in the System Settings to match your physical setup. Go to the Apple menu > System Settings > Displays and select the "Arrangement" tab to configure the display arrangement. 
    2. Utilize the Use As drop down to change between Mirrored and Extended displays.
      The "Use As" drop down is below the Arrange button.
  4. Select Audio.

  1. In the upper right of the screen, click the Sliders icon, then click the Sound carrot to select the output device. 
    ""
  2. Choose Headphones.
    Choose "Headphones" from the Output list.
  3. Use volume control on your device to adjust audio levels.
     
  1. Using the Document Camera.
    1. Install the Quick Camera application from Self Service if you have not done so already. Self Service can be found in your Applications.
    2. Open Quick Camera. If prompted, click OK to allow Quick Camera to access the USB Document Camera. 
    3. In Quick Camera, select Camera > Select Source > EPSON ELPDC21 as the source to control the zoom/focus/etc on the Document Camera.

    4. Use the Camera tab at the top of the screen to rotate/mirror the image, or switch between your Document Camera and your Webcam.
