It is vital that you protect your laptop, tablet, and other mobile devices from theft to prevent loss of sensitive data and immediately report lost or stolen devices and data to both the IT Service Desk at HELP@uwsp.edu | (715) 346-HELP (4357) AND TO  UWSP Police and Security Services at (715) 715-346-3456.

How to Protect Your Devices and UWSP Data

  • Do not leave devices unattended or left alone in a car for long periods of time.
  • Keep your devices close and visible at all times. Make sure to set auto-lock on mobile devices and lock your laptop screen whenever you step away.
  • Do not store or carry printed reports that contain sensitive information in any carrying case or bag including purses, briefcases, backpacks, and laptop bags.
  • Immediately report loss or theft of any of the following:
    •  Any University device such as laptops, smartphones and tablets.
    • Any personal device you use to access your UWSP email and documents.
    • Your UWSP PointCard or other assigned door access card.
    • Any printed reports that contain any High Risk data as identified through the University of Wisconsin’s Data Classifications.
