If a power outage occurs, laptops with full batteries should continue to work for at least 7-8 hours. Always plug your laptop in to power whenever possible to maintain battery charge in the event of a power outage.
Desktop computers will power off during a power outage and must be manually powered on once power is restored. If you work from home and typically remote in to a desktop computer that was turned off, contact your department to ask if they can turn on your computer for you.
