An Advisee distribution list contains the email address of an adviser and all assigned student advisees.
NOTE: To ensure student privacy no one can see the membership of advisee lists.
Who Can Use Advisee Distribution Lists?
The owning adviser can send messages to their Advisee list.
Messages will be rejected if sent from an off-campus internet address or unauthorized UWSP account.
Naming Conventions for Advisee Lists
Advisee distribution list names are in the following format:
- Undergrad advisee list (UGRD):
- adv-[adviser last name], [adviser first name]-UGRD
- Graduate advisee list (GRAD):
- adv-[adviser last name], [adviser first name]-GRAD

How To Email Advisee Lists
In Outlook Desktop
- Create a new email in Outlook.
- Click the To button to open the Select Names dialog box.
- In the Select Names Search box, begin typing the list name using the format in the above examples

OR
- Click the Address Book dropdown > All Groups > Advisees.

- Select your Advisee list(s).
- Click To > OK to address the email.
In Outlook for the Web
- Open Outlook for the web in a browser.
- Create a new email and click To.
- Select Advisees in the contact list. Locate the desired Advisee list and click the to add it to the email as a recipient.

Availability & Accuracy
All distribution lists are automatically available in Microsoft Outlook. The lists are updated every half hour from data supplied by the Office of the Registrar.
